Visitors do not need an international driver's permit to rent vehicles, provided that their
stay is no longer than 3 months. You will, however, need to produce your normal driving licence.
Drivers must be 25 years of age and have at least two years of driving experience according to the local law.

Tobago is a wonderful island to tour in a self-drive hire car. However, the island has many isolated regions and few public telephones, so a reliable vehicle is a must. K.J.Car Rentals

Keino John has been known to us for several years, having worked for one of our tour colleagues.
He has now opened his own car rental business with a small fleet of new vehicles and
has proven to offer a good reliable service.

Collin Shepherd started Sheppy’s Car Rentals in 1997. His fleet consists of 90 cars,
jeeps and minivans, all between one and five years old.

Sherman's Auto Rentals

Sherman’s boast of over twenty years in the automobile business and have a fleet of 40 cars and jeeps. All vehicles are less than two years old (except Suzuki Samurai which is approximately four years old).

Thrifty is an international franchise and has been operational in Tobago since 1992. The firm maintains a fleet of around 40 self-drive rental vehicles on Tobago. Their hire vehicles have an average age of two years and all cars are replaced after four years.
