Trinidad Carnival

Tuesday 24th February 2009

Come and enjoy the big “Street Party” with explosion of colours and hot rhythms.
When? Mardi Gras (Carnival Tuesday, 24th February 2009). Where? In Trinidad!

Sailing Schooner Scaramouche

A short flight around 6 am takes us to Piarco International Airport from where we journey via Lady Young Road into Port of Spain where we have arranged seating facilities in a park area and be close to all the masqueraders in this largest street party ever.

During the day we split in smaller groups to experience the real Carnival, in the streets, dancing
or picture-taking, accompanied by one of our guides, please leave your bags with our guide
and take only a small amount of money with you.

There are lots of places closeby to get local food and drinks, food between TTD10 and TTD40,
drinks from TTD5 to TTD10. You decide when, what and how much you eat and drink.
We recommend you to take TTD or small USD notes.

CARNIVAL is far more than masquerading, it’s a whole explosive season in itself.

Visitors can wander into this turmoil, and learn at first hand what makes Trinidad Carnival the “Greatest show on Earth”, at least that is how “Trinis” explain their Carnival.

Masked costume bands take over. In the riot of colour, sound and movement you can find the heart of Carnival and the world’s largest, most peaceful and euphoric street party. Blaring music trucks accompany this spectacle from dawn to dusk. Steelpan, calypso and soca music stokes the fires of Carnival.
