Asa Wright Nature Centre & Caroni Swamp

Our first stop on this adventure is the Asa Wright Nature Centre established in 1967. This 270 acre reserve is one of the top bird watching sites in the Caribbean. Enjoy a scenic tour along the trails to see an abundance of birds, butterflies and a variety of flowering plants. A cool dip in the refreshing pool of the nearby waterfall will invigorate you for the day. Lunch is served on the Centre's Terrace overlooking the forested land.

In the afternoon we will continue our trip towards the Caroni Swamp to watch the daily spectacle of the Scarlet Ibis, one of the National Birds of Trinidad and Tobago. The Mangrove Swamp is known for many different species of animals and is a favourite to visitors particularly in the early evening when the Scarlet Ibis returns to roost. The brilliant colour against the darkening sky is an unforgettable experience for any visitor.
